Previously we discussed that you do NOT want to CONTROL EVERY aspect of your life! That is what screws up CONTROL FREAKS!
RON L HUBBARD also shares another AWESOME AHA in his The Problems of Work.
Remember the example of trying to control EVERY aspect of the football game which if that happened would NO longer be a GAME?
Well what if a player is severely hurt on a play in that football game? Hubbard says that usually the player rehabs and then returns to the game of football doing MORE things to CONTROL the injury NEVER happening again! Yes this is important; however in the process of CONTROL FREAKING there is a GREATER chance of sustaining another injury! It is even possible the player may then QUIT playing all together!
NEVER put yourself in a position of being a FREAKIN CONTROL FREAK!
This also applies to WORK which if it is a professional football player is WORK! However let’s say you are hurt on the job by freak accident. Instead of being a CONTROL FREAK Hubbard says you should go around your work place TOUCHING EVERY aspect of it. TOUCH the filing cabinet, the window sill, your desk, etc. This act of TOUCHING these items surrounding your WORK will make your recovery easier!
Hubbard says: “ONE MUST DO ONE’S WORK IN PRESENT TIME. ONE MUST NOT CONTINUE TO WORK IN OLD MOMENTS OF INJURY.”
“If a man were to go all the way around an office in which he had worked for years and TOUCH (my emphasis) the walls and window ledges and the equipment and tables and desks and chairs…he would feel much BETTER (my emphasis) about the entire room.”
So if that injured football player returned to the EXACT place he was injured and TOUCHED it and then TOUCHED other areas on the field and sidelines where he WORKS then he would more than likely return to the field feeing BETTER!
Therapy I would have NEVER thought of!
