Yes, however this FRIDAY 13th has nothing to do with the horror film classics.
It was the beginning of HORROR for many of my ancestors who had ticked off King Phillipe and The Pope as this FRIDAY 13th was the beginning of the Inquisition against the KNIGHTS TEMPLAR with the arrest of Templar Grand Master Jacque de Molay.
We are only going to take with us NINE travelers as this was the number of original KNIGHTS TEMPLAR. The trip will also be NINE days.
During our adventures into France we will explore the history of the Cathars and Templars, the Inquisition, the Commanderies and the revelation of secrets they left for us to discover.
We will all travel first to Paris to celebrate FRIDAY 13th at the original location in Paris.
After seeing Templar sites in Paris we will continue to Renne Le Chateau in the Languedoc region where the Templar mysteries unfolded, where the priest Saunierre discovered some parchments while renovating the church of the Magdalene. The area is rich in Templar and Cathar history including modern times.
Here is what I found in Wikipedia:
“The entire area around Rennes-le-Château became the focus of sensational claims in the 1950s and 1960s involving Blanche of Castile, the Merovingians, the Knights Templar, the Cathars, the treasures of the Temple of Solomon that was the booty of the Visigoths that included the Ark of the Covenant and the Menorah (the seven-branched candlestick from the Temple of Jerusalem). From the 1970s onwards claims have extended to the Priory of Sion, the Rex Deus, the Holy Grail, ley lines, sacred geometry alignments, the remains of Jesus Christ, alleged references to Mary Magdalene settling in the south of France, and even flying saucers. Well-known French authors like Jules Verne and Maurice Leblanc are suspected of leaving clues in their novels about their knowledge of the “mystery” of Rennes-le-Château.”
Our tour guidess Dorianna Peterson, who has visited Renne Le Chateau numerous times and spent years studying its mysterious history, has special connections and insight that will make this a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
Then we will move on to PROVENCE. In Provence, we visit Sainte Baume and Sainte Maximine, where Mary Magdalene spent 20 years, teaching her wisdom and healing. At the seaside village of les St. Marie de la Mer,where the Marys landed after the crucifixion.
Also a great deal of Knights Templar history took place in Provence. Here is some information found about one of the Knights Templar commanderies I found:
“Provence has a number of towns that were home to Commanderies of the Knights Templar. Close to Sablet there is a particularly good example of such a main Commanderie in the town of Richeranches. Here, the Commanderie was erected on land donated by Hugo de Bolboton, a local land owner who was committed to the cause of the crusades. The fortified structure followed a common square courtyard layout with a Chapel and a refectory at opposite ends of the structure. Although many of the original buildings of this Commanderie have been destroyed or incorporated into other structures of the village, the Refectory building, the Dining and Meeting Halls of the original Commanderie is still intact and perhaps one of the best preserved in Europe. The Commanderie became an important center for horse breeding. The constant need for horses during this time of warfare required a steady supply of sturdy animals and Richeranches horses became known as the best breed to carry the burden and heavy armor of the knights during battle.”
