Getting back to the EYE OPENING book The Problems of Work by RON L HUBBARD we find that in addition to WORK having PURPOSE one must be able to create the START/CHANGE/STOP CYCLE.
What is this cycle?
Let’s say you are a foreman in a factory charged with making sure everything runs smoothly especially the automated machines. Now having worked with these type machines as a college student in one of the R J Reynolds Tobacco Company’s facilities loading packages of Winston cigarettes into a cartoon, MURPHY’S LAW raises its ugly head very often in this environment. This law says that you had better BE PREPARED for major screw ups in this type of scenario! In fact, my machine stayed DOWN more than UP requiring me to contact a mechanic to fix it!
Now fortunately I had the required ABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY to STOP that machine from further packing those cigarette packages into a cartoon! If it had continued we would have had MORE ruined packages!
According to Hubbard I could instigate the START/CHANGE/STOP CYCLE which we will discuss further in the next post!
